The PERC Reporting Standard, UNFC, the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act

Principles and application of systems for public and non-public reporting on mineral projects To include reference to the PERC Reporting Standard, UNFC, the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, and a discussion of reporting on metalliferous brines

PERC is responsible for the compilation, review and update of the PERC Reporting Standard 2021, which sets out the required minimum standard and additional guidelines for the Public Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves.  PERC’s Training courses help users to understand and apply the mineral reporting codes and standards.

This course will focus on minerals reporting and will provide guidance to those preparing or using information based on the assessment and reporting of mineral projects, both in general and using the PERC Reporting Standard in particular. Reference will be made to the differing requirements of government and industry; the role of the UNFC in the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act; the use of the CRIRSCO Template to UNFC Bridging Document; and the topic of non-conventional sources such as lithium bearing brines.

This course will be relevant for those who already have some knowledge of the minerals sector and are working in roles such as:

  • Mineral industry professionals, especially those acting as a Competent Person or a Qualified Person
  • Government technical staff and advisors on the minerals sector and minerals policy
  • Mining industry investors and analysts

The course content will be covered under the following themes:

  1. An overview of mineral reporting codes and standards
  • The use of the PERC Reporting Standard and other CRIRSCO-aligned codes for Public Reporting
  • The role of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and Non-Public Reporting.
  • Reporting requirements for mineral projects covered by the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act.
  • The CRIRSCO Template to UNFC Bridging Document
  1. Application case studies
  • Minerals reporting in Germany – state, federal and EU factors.
  • Approaches to project portfolio management using different systems.
  • The challenges of reporting on mineral projects that are based on metalliferous brines.

The course will include presentations on these topics, with case histories, interactive sessions and group activities as appropriate.
